Cutting the Federal Budget, it just ain't that hard . . .

The elite Super Committee, with allegedly the smartest of our professional politicians, worked for months to cut $120 billion a year from the Federal Budget, this crack team of career politicians worked for months, along with countless hours from their staffs and advisors and in the end, just couldn't find anything to cut from the budget that we just absolutely could not live without, so they simply quit working on the problem.  But seriously is it really that hard, well Chuck Woolery, a game show host, has put together a quick $150 Billion + plan, just to get the ball rolling!

Now that Chuck has gotten our juices flowing and we are on a roll, let's look at a couple other ideas, just off the top of my head!

NOAA, National Weather Service, formed in the 1800's to provide weather information to Farmers.  Great idea in the 1800's when the government was the only source for this data but today every news organization, TV station and radio station provide almost continual weather updates.  Eliminating this organization would add $5.5 billion per year to Chucks $120 billion.

Corporation for Public Broadcasting - Another great idea when created in 1967 as the Corporation for Public Broadcasting provided the ability for small markets to have access to Radio and TV stations.  But today technology and competition make the CPB simply another waste of approximately $500 million a year in taxpayer dollars.

North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) - Created in 1949 to protect Europe from an aggressive Russia.  Of course when the cold war ended, the bureaucrats in NATO were not about to give up their cushy jobs and lucrative salaries and perks, so NATO still exists today doing peace keeping work in Libya and Afghanistan.  43% of all NATO spending is from the US.  We the taxpayers kick in about $300 billion a year before any operational cost, so considering operations in Libya this year cost close to $1 Billion a month, exiting from NATO, would save a tidy $6.5 billion dollar savings.

Cut Congress and Senate budgets by 50%.  We the taxpayers spend upwards of $2 Billion a year to pay congress and their staffers, not including travel and other expenses.  Congress should be required to cut their own budget by 50% until the US is once again solvent.  Making this change would add another $1 billion in savings to the Federal Budget.  

So recapping, starting with Chuck Woolery's cuts:   $150 billion per year

Eliminating NOAA                                                   $    5.5 billion

Eliminating the CPB                                                  $      .5 billion

NATO                                                                       $    306.5 billion

Eliminate/Outsource the Post Office                          $   32.0 billion (and that's just covering the loss)

Total Yearly Cuts                                                      $  459.5 billon 

And over 10 years this would cut nearly                   $4.6 trillion

Cash-Strapped USPS Turns To Deliveries After Dark...

Speaking of ways to save “we the people” some money by cutting government waste, let’s just take a look at the United States Postal Service or USPS. 

CBS is reporting that the Postal Service, which is reported to be losing $32 billion a year is now delivering mail at night to save money!   To which we Common Sense Thinkers scream, are you serious, this is the best you can do!

The Post Office was established in 1775 as authorized by the Postal Clause in Article One of the United States Constitution, empowering Congress "To establish post offices and post roads".  The Post Office was one of the many great government programs originally created to meet the needs of an evolving Country and economy in order to enable commerce in the United States.  But like many government programs the Post Office simply past its prime and is no longer needed.   Much like the “buggy whip” factories in the early 1900’s, the Post Office is simply no longer needed or viable, but unlike private enterprises which must adapt and remain competitive or die, government programs who are backed by taxpayers, not investors, never see the need to evolve.  

Honestly, when was the last time you sent a really important document or package, that you couldn’t email to someone, via the US Post Office.  If it absolutely, positively, has to get there on time most Americans now depend on private enterprise to deliver their documents and their goods.

But will our elected officials in Congress have the courage to shut down a near extinct  business?  Not likely just because there are still too many Congressman who have yet to have a building named after them.  And let's be honest those postal facilities are quiet nice little name sakes, not to mention the votes that can be bought by bringing home some “bacon” with a new building paid for as a bribe to one of their colleges for a favor or to turn the tide in a tight re-election campaign.   And while these are good enough reasons alone to keep the post office afloat, the real reason Congress will not take action to shut down the post office is the fact that the Unions simply won’t let it happen.  And in the end, well the tax payers take it in the end once again!

The Republicans may have to wait until their convention for a Presidential nominee

At this early, yet late, date, in which pundits and various thinkers are thinking they KNOW who the Republicans should nominate . . . 

The following article exactly describes my current hopes.

I hope the Republicans fight it out, do NOT have an obvious majority candidate in August and have to nominate one AT THE CONVENTION.

Could this be good for the nation and the Republican Party?  I think so but what do you think?

Ever Wonder who all those appointed, unaccountable Czars that President Obama appointed actually are?

This should not only disgust you but make your blood boil!  Do you think any one of these individuals would have been approved by the Senate had they been appointed to his cabinet?


A few other questions should come to mind;  What the hell do they do? ( That is the danger in these folks, they advise the president and shape his policies.  Which does explain a lot about why we have such radical policies coming out of this administration!) 


How much of your money goes to pay them? (No one really knows, but their salary is probably inconsequential compared to the damage to society their ideas cause!)


Want to cut some tax payer waste, let's start with these unauthorized and useless positions filled with un-patriotic, un-American individuals!


Of course I could be wrong, I am just an old country boy with a little common sense!

Has no other "policy" These are the people who are helping President Obama run our country.

Speaking of Common Sense perhaps this is a clear indication of the challenges facing America

So let me ask you if YOU were walking along holding an umbrella for

your wife.  You approach a gate with an obstruction above it made of steel. What would you do?

1. Lower the umbrella, close the umbrella, pass the umbrella through the gate and open it on the other side.
2. Leave the umbrella open and pass it over the top of the obstruction and continue on the other side.
3. Hold the umbrella in the same position because a metal solid will pass through another metal solid unobstructed.  While the laws of physics are truly important you have the power to issue and "executive order" to change any law you do like!

Labor board drops complaint over Boeing's nonunion S.C. plant

WASHINGTON – The National Labor Relations Board on Friday officially dropped its high-profile case challenging Boeing's decision to open a nonunion aircraft manufacturing plant in South Carolina.

The board acted after the Machinists union approved a 4-year contract extension with Boeing earlier this week and agreed to withdraw its charge that the company violated federal labor laws.

Lafe Solomon, the board's acting general counsel, said he had always preferred a settlement. The agency settles about 90% of its cases.

So if there was ever any doubt about who controls the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), this should make it clear.  First the Federal Government (that is the Community Organizer in Chief, Barack Obama) files a suit against Boeing to block Boeing from running its business and spending its shareholders money the way they see fit because Boeing was going to open a NONUNION plant!   Then surprise, surprise the union thugs in the Machinists union are successful in extorting from Boeing a 4 year contract extension with Boeing to build more airplanes in Washington State and presto, the Federal Government all of a sudden decides that  it is not an issue for Boeing to build a nonunion plant in South Carolina.  

Now here in Texas this looks an awful lot like collusion between the Organizer-in-Chief's thugs and the Union thugs, but in the Obama Administration this seems to be "business as usual".
